Injection Molding Machine Requirements
TWO (2) fully operational production machines, reliable* and safe. Additional machines may be needed if more than 8 attendees. All machines must be within close physical proximity to one another for the trainer’s ease in communicating.
Requirements provided below DO NOT qualify your plant for a Master Molder level class. Please contact us for additional requirements and information.
*“Reliable” is defined as:
- Able to run on manual, semi and full automatic cycle.
- No problem with ejectors
- Settable mold protect.
- Easy to collect parts.
- The machines have an easy means in which to load material safely and preferably automatically
- It is preferable to use the same machines throughout the training.
- Cooling equipment is available that can be operated from the machine and is able to control water temperature and deliver water to the mold consistently.
- Appropriate material should be available for the molds to be used for the machine/hands on portion of the training.
- The client/partner has agreed to RJG performing rigorous machine tests including: zeroing out and resetting the mold program, running the machines at high speeds and high pressure, and running the machines at low speeds and low pressures.
Machine Safety Requirements
- When E-Stop is pressed, no machine movement is possible.
- When the front safety gate is opened, there is no clamp or injection movement.
- When the rear safety gate is opened, the pumps/motor shuts off.
- When the purge guard is opened, injection movement is not possible.
- When the main disconnect is in the ON position, it is not possible to open the electrical panel. Or, when the electrical panel is opened, power to the machine is immediately killed.
Mold Requirements
- One actual production mold per machine is available for use
- Each mold is properly sized for the machines.
- Each mold has been installed into each machine, proper fit and function has been tested
- Each mold functions in the fully automatic cycle.
- Each mold is capable of running short shots, on cycle without sticking parts or other damage
- Shot size falls within 20-80% of the machine’s total shot capacity. The closer to 50% of shot capacity, the better.
- The mold can be run without the use of auxiliary equipment (i.e., robot).
Additional Requirements
- Suggested: Back-up machine, should one malfunction.
- Arrangements have been made to have someone available during the “On Machine” portion of this training who knows how to operate and fix the machine(s) in the event of a malfunction or breakdown.
