Since we just finished an Executive Overview I have a lot of stuff in my head about what we provide to try to bring the whole plant on board with systematic molding and cavity pressure. As most of you know the RJG “eDART Data Manager” (EDM) is sold as an integral part of the eDART™ system, usually after the first few eDARTs. One of our salesmen was explaining that he was unsure just how to explain the value of the thing and how important it is.
This diagram shows how the EDM becomes the core of information flow to various departments in the plant. You may find it rather rough and busy at first so I will list in words the main points. Follow the arrows to see the flow of information.
What is an RJG eDART Data Manager For?
- Process standardization across the plant using electronic records (instead of paper or human memory): templates and normalized machine setups.
- Data distribution to all departments in different forms as needed
- RJG Remote Support which you get when you put in an EDM.
These are the fundamental functions. They can be explained in much more detail as required.
Elaborating on the above….
One of the problems we are finding at many customers is that process setups tend to vary because individual process setup folks choose their own setups. While the eDART cannot force them to do otherwise it at least can hold the proper information and ensure that it is available at every press in which the mold runs. The cross-copy function, which we are re-releasing now, is the engine that drives this.
- Templates contain values that describe the cavity pressure curves (on the cycle graph) and the machine setups (cycle values). These are used to reset each process to the way it last ran.
- Alarms standardize how parts are sorted and ensure that part quality standards are consistent on each run.
- Setup notes allow free-form entry of whatever is required to help with process setup.
- System Overview, Advanced System Overview and Intouch provide management with an idea of how the whole plant is running.
- The eDARTs copy all process data to the EDM for correlations to part quality for setting alarms and post-problem analysis.
- Customers can make custom information hoses to move eDART data to other software systems such as label printers, SAP or other ERP systems etc.
- RJG technical people can help over the phone at any time with process setups, template matching, alarms, DOE’s or whatever.
- The customers’ own process engineers can help their shop floor people with problem solving remotely if necessary.
- Management can (if the door is opened) view plant operations from remote locations.
