Tip of the Day 124: « Where’s my data? »
Recently we found a customer who has an eDART Data Manager (« EDM ») installed on his network and was struggling with the Data Extractor software to get data from his eDARTs. This was so he could use the analyzer. Somehow he did not understand that the eDARTs regularly send their data to the EDM so that you can analyze it there. I send this tip to un-confuse others, in case there are any.
The EDM, when properly installed on your plant network, shares folders for certain data spaces. Among these is the data area for the process data recorded and sent to it by the eDARTs. Even if you don’t know for sure what the name or address of the EDM is you can easily find the data with the Analyzer as follows:
- If you have not already done so, download and install from the www.rjginc.com web site (under the Resources / Software Downloads section) latest « eDART System Utilities » software.
- Open the RJG Insight folder and start Analyzer. It will probably show a screen like this (if never run before). Then…
If the EDM is properly shared and reachable from your workstation it will fill in the « Data Directory » at the top left with something like this:
\\192.168.2.6\eDART Data
The folders listed below will then be all of the molds in the EDM’s « Molds » directory. Clicking on a folder will then show in the calendar what data is available and you can then choose what to analyze.
